The Isolation of an Azobilirubin P - D - Monoglucoside from Dog Gall - Bladder Bile By ELLEN
نویسندگان
چکیده
An ethyl anthranilate azopigment of bilirubin conjugated to fi-D-monoglucoside was isolated from dog gall-bladder bile. Glucose was cleaved from the azopigment by treatment with IJ-glucosidase and f6-glucuronidase. Mild alkaline hydrolysis of the compound by sodium methoxide yielded two kinds of compounds, water-soluble and organic-soluble. The former were shown, by enzymic analysis, t.l.c., nuclear magnetic resonance, and combined g.l.c. and mass spectrometry, to contain glucose. No evidence was obtained from these data that a disaccharide was present in this fraction. The organicsoluble compounds formed during this methanolysis were shown, by t.l.c. and mass spectrometry, to be the isomeric dipyrrole azopigments of bilirubin. These findings contribute further evidence to the controversy surrounding the nature ofconjugated bilirubin.

Effect of endoscopic sphincterotomy on gall bladder bile lithogenicity and motility.
BACKGROUND Endoscopic sphincterotomy has been shown to inhibit stone formation in the gall bladder of experimental animals. AIMS To investigate the alterations in bile composition and gall bladder motility after endoscopic sphincterotomy. PATIENTS A study was performed of gall bladder bile composition and gall bladder motility in patients with gallstone disease ((n = 20; age 40-60 years, me...
متن کاملOn the Expulsion of Bile by the Gall Bladder; and a Reciprocal Relationship with the Sphincter Activity
After feeding a dog, forceful contractions of the gall bladder occur that are sufficient in strength to expel part of the contents of the viscus against a considerable pressure resistance. The pressure within the gall bladder of a healthy, unanesthetized dog fasted 24 to 48 hours is usually about equal to a column of bile 100 mm. high. After a few swallows of food there is a rapid increase in t...

1. Conjugated bile pigments, separated in two fractions by semi-quantitative t.l.c. performed on silicic acid with phenol/water as the developing solvent, were treated with diazotized ethyl anthranilate. Resulting dipyrrylazo derivatives were analysed by quantitative t.l.c. 2. The tentative structure elucidation of tetrapyrrolic bilirubin conjugates and semi-quantitative evaluation of rat bile,...
متن کاملEffects of artificial depletion of the bile acid pool in man.
In order to elucidate the relationship between bile acid pool size and cholesterol saturation index of fasting state gall bladder bile, we artificially depleted the bile acid pool in 12 healthy volunteers. Bile acid pool size decreased from 7.6 +/- 0.9 to 5.8 +/- 0.7 mmol (mean +/- SEM, p less than 0.01), and saturation index of fasting state gall bladder bile increased from 0.93 +/- 0.07 to 1....
متن کاملPhysiological Causes for the Varied Character of Stasis Bile
The gall bladder and ducts exert opposite influences upon the bile. The ducts fail to concentrate and thicken it with mucus as the bladder does, but dilute it slightly with a thin secretion of their own that is colorless and devoid of cholates even when the organism is heavily jaundiced. The fluid may readily be collected into a rubber bag connected with an isolated duct segment. It continues t...
